Education at all levels is free. The education programs have sav key objective to raise the level of education and to provide all citizens equal opportunity in education regardless of residence, economic status, native language, or sex.
The goal of programs for education today is no longer the infrastructure, having reached a satisfactory level, but the continuous improvement of quality of education.
Attempts to improve the education system began in the 1970's and continues unabated.

The compulsory education is 9 years and is uniform and involves the lower stage (TCGE 1) and upper (TCGE 2).
There is an optional 10th grade who are normally those who are still studying.
The upper secondary education (TCGE 3) includes high school and technical schools with 3 years course of study for both schools.

PRESCHOOL EDUCATION (TCGE 0)
All children aged 6 years are entitled to child care if their parents wish. The main forms of child care is the kindergarten and day care in a family. In addition to the kindergarten parents can choose the primary childcare allowance, which can organize the daily care of their children as they wish.
9 YEAR COMPULSORY EDUCATION (TCGE 1,2)
Compulsory education is considered by law as a single entity but is divided at a lower level (1 to 6 class, TCGE 1) and upper level (7 to 9 class, TCGE2). In lower level courses taught by teachers and professors in higher level.
Objective of compulsory education is to promote the development of personality of students, to support the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary for further education or employment and to ensure the development and cooperation between them, taking into account individual differences.
All compulsory education is free.
The school year is 190 days starting in late August and ending in June. The teaching hours per week starting from 19 for small classes and number about 30.
Basic education can be completed by attending the 10th year in a folk high school in this case is given a separate title.
UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION (TCGE 3)
Upper secondary education is divided into general and technical. The school of general education is high school and technical education vocational school.
GENERAL EDUCATION - HIGH SCHOOL
For admission to the school applied for stakeholders in February through a standard-common system. All schools operate without divisions into classes that students progress in their studies not related to their school years. Students are able to choose when to attend classes taught in school.
Studies in high school designed for 3 years but students can complete their studies from 2 to 4 years
The high school curriculum includes technical - practical lessons.
The high school graduation certificate provided after successful national examinations
made in the form of test and required courses include 4 ie 2 national languages, foreign language and mathematics or natural sciences or literature / humanities
